Tips to Work with Affiliate Managers.
Just because you're doing affiliate marketing as a side business or from your home doesn't mean that is a laid-back style of business. A business is still a business. Although you're doing a business from a home office, you can partner with big companies such as Walmart through their affiliate programs.
It is important that you use a professional manner in every communication that you do with the vendor or merchant. No, I don't mean that you should pretend that you have a team of at least ten people who work for you. But, being professional immediately communicates the level of your performance in the business.
Big companies expect that kind of communication in email or phone. Smaller companies have more relaxed culture but if you are not sure, being professional is the way to go.
Another thing to remember is that you should be polite. I see it online. People act differently online. They're very nice with others in real life but say something they would not say to others online.
On the Internet, you don't know if you're speaking to a dog. However, most likely, they will be human just like you. When it comes to business, see it as such and people will appreciate it.
Providing constructive feedback is one thing. Insulting the merchant by saying "You products suck" will alienate them. Remember, they can choose not to work with you. It is often productive to fire their partners or customers and focus on the best.
I've tried this strategy myself. I feel better if I help the best partners to earn more. Solid relationship translates into more business and projects in the future. Customers who appreciate what I have to offer is going to get more help from me.
That is a win-win-win situation. Nothing beats that.
